Quotes Bug in the Dark by Lee Kimber. Illus Paul Elder. Pub. Kimberwrite, 2013. This is the first picture book I have read about a glow-worm. It is from self publishing author Lee Kimber who tells a story of a glow-worm out of it?s comfort zone and looking for a way to get food and protect itself from enemies. He starts to discover his unique qualities and glows in the dark like a good worm should. Told in rhyming verse that demands to be read allowed. The real star is the illustrations by Paul Elder. His creation of the leafy environment that glow -worm finds himself in, is beautifully created. The glow-worm is adorable and the spider and weta exude charisma. I read it to my granddaughters and they loved it. A worthy purchase for schools. bobsbooksnz Quotes

Quotes This is a cute short story that encourages children's imagination..Especially, if they love to draw or color...The illustrations are big, bright and colorful...Looks nice on my niece's kindle...It about "Doodle D. Dragon" who loves to draw or paint. "Doodle" shows where it is safe to draw and crayons or markers he uses....Plus, the entire story rhymes all the way to the ending which always makes them laugh.... Encourages Imagination

Quotes 'A bug in the dark is a cute wee bug with a problem to solve. She is stuck on her leaf with no food at all. After observing the other insects in the bush around her she develops a clever plan to feed herself and we find out exactly what kind of bug she is on the last page of the book. With simple, fun, rhyming text this book is a joy to read aloud. The illustrations are a stunning combination of cartoon characters set within real photographs of native bush taken at the Maungatautari Ecological Island in the Waikato. The children at Playcentre loved the cartoon characters. They enjoyed identifying the different native insects, laughed at funny aspects and empathised with bug in the dark's predicament. I love the books focus on problem solving by thinking outside the square and the way it fosters an awareness and appreciation of New Zealand's natural environment. Inspired by the book, the children headed off into the wilds of the Playcentre garden for a bug hunt of their own!' Quotes

Quotes I asked Paul to produce a number of health and safety cartoons which he completed within a very short time scale..... all exactly what I was after, I then asked him to produce a couple of cartoons for a display at work...... again within 24 hours they were done and are now on the wall highlighting the material that I needed, they have captured a number of interestingly positive comments, having the affect I was after. I would recommend Paul's talents to anyone. Quotes
